This is the third year I’ve been lucky enough to photograph this family. I love seeing families grow and watching personalities develop. When I client chooses to use me again for their family photos, I feel honored and humbled. In a small way I get to be part of their stories. Part of their memories. I’m the awkward photographer lady that they had to drive hours to meet in remote places, that forced them to played games on the beach and encouraged them to tickle dad. It’s a role I take pretty seriously and I work hard to make it fun and effortless for everyone.
For this session, we decided to connect at one of my favorite localish beaches. Located on the Strait of Juan De Fuca, it’s short drive (less than an hour – yes, I realize my idea of short is quite different from most) from my home but it feels as though you’re 100 miles away on the coast. It really does have it – rugged coastline, beach grass, sand and lighthouse.
Fortunately, this crew was able to be flexible and seized a last minute spot on a sunny day. These kids are full of personality – just the way I like it. What always impresses me with this crew is the parents. Man alive, they are patient, kind and loving. I’ve seen my fair share of parents get rattled during a session, but never these two. They let the kids be kids, but gently reign them in if they start to get a little squirrely. I love it, and I’m taking notes for my own parenting 😉 I hope you enjoy this energy packed, love-filled beach family session! Ciao ~ S
